Photographic competitions have the power to tell stories untold, awaken passions, show the intimate and unseen and engender aspirations to improve.

Photographs selected for entry to competitions tend to bring out our “best of the best” images.

There is something very heartwarming and rewarding to receive peer recognition for our work.

There is also a quiet fulfillment experienced when our image is selected as being exceptional and individual.

When professionally arranged and managed, photographic competitions contribute in significant ways to encourage and inspire photographers to create great images that are a celebration of light, inspiration and sheer human joy.

For these reasons, Iconic Images, together with  respected partners, conduct a small number of special interest photographic competitions each year.

The inaugural Iconic Images/Australian Photographic Society (APS) competition, iconPHOTO was officially launched at the APS Annual Conference, on 5 October 2009 and closesd at 5.00pm (WST) on 14th June 2010. For details of judging and award of prizes please visit this link:  Judging & Awards

If you have an interest in next year’s competition, and you would like to obtain details on entry requirements, how to upload entries, prizes, etc., click on the “Swan” image above.

The inaugural competition offered outstanding prizes exceeding $17,000 and was open only  to amateur photographers.

Nick Melidonis, Master Photographer AIPP, and a judge of iconPHOTO, has prepared a very useful article, titled, “How To Prepare Winning Images for iconPHOTO″.
